Virgin Media Discussion Thread

How much did you manage to get that for? :)
It was on uSwitch for £38/month. Have seen it for £36. Then I’m paying £10/month for the O2 sim which is 40GB, unlimited mins and texts plus EU roaming. Then hopefully that should double up on both once the Volt benefits are applied.

Edit: actually I went through comparethemarket for the £100 bill credit as well.

Folks... regarding the FTTP broadband... I just received Skys modem router and noticed a phone line socket.
I dont have a phone line near the area I want to plug into... is this going to be a deal breaker?

Wrong thread but not an issue, it’ll plug into the ONT once fitted.

You don't need a phone line for FTTP, the Sky router is one that can work on FTTP or FTTC which is why it has the phone line socket.

Afternoon all

My VM contract is up now, they keep calling me although I have it in my diary to call them, I currently pay £40 per month for landline and 350M broadband, we are going to cancel the landline as its for the in-laws in the annex joined to our house and no one ever calls them (Like I've been saying for the past 2 years :))

So is the process

  1. Call and say I want to cancel
  2. Leave it until the actual end date for service to cease
  3. Keep an eye on my emails for an offer, hoping I might get the 1GB service for £20/£25 pcm (We all live in hope!!)
  4. Re-sign again
VM have been fantastic bar their normal maintenance outages and are by far the fastest service with 8 of us in the house with streaming, gaming, smart tech online

Just renewed my contract. Got 1gig Internet with the new hub 5, a Virgin stream bundle, and an 02 sim with unlimited calls and 10GB for £55 a month. I don’t think that’s too sore in this day and age. only issue is the streaming box and sim are a bit redundant.

Whats the Wi-Fi like on the hub 5? Am I still better off sticking it in modem mode and using my eero mesh system!

Can't comment on Wi-Fi signal as I just leave mine in modem mode and let the UniFi APs cover my property. I follow the rule of "if it ain't broke............................."

We have Sky so not looking to move for TV service at the moment

I just called VM to ask for someone to replace a missing green plastic cover/lid for the broadband wiring box outside my house as the wires are exposed. This woman I spoke to said it would cost £25 because its damage to their property. I said it's not my fault it's gone missing and that it was always a bit loose. I said I've been a regular customer for many years, that it's bloody ridiculous you want to charge me, and I refuse to pay £25. In the end I had to put the phone down because she wouldn't make an exception. So I'll just leave it as it is.

Strange, try dropping them a message on "the socials" or their forum instead maybe?

Just called and put a cancellation in, best they could offer was £35 (currently pay £40 or thereabouts with landline calls added) for 350M and a phone line, we don't need the phoneline and they offered £57 for no phone line and 1GB circuit

So we shall see what offers they come back with now...

The staff on VM's forum seem quite helpful, it can sometimes take a couple of days for them to get to you though. Better than smashing your head into the wall of their offshore agents.
