Had some planned maintenance today. Now have another DOCSIS 3.0 upstream and a 3.1 upstream channel.

I got the same a few weeks back and despite the hope the increased use of DOCSIS 3.1 over time will improve latency, since then latency has been creeping up from about 12ms (for over a year) to 21ms for the last week.

I hope this is more ongoing work rather than a new normal in my area.

Average latency is perhaps a bit more jittery compared to before but, the BQM doesn’t seem too bad for VM.

That time of year again, phoned up this morning to "negotiate" my contract.
Offered 200mb broadband only (which I'm currently on) for £36pm

Turned it down, & tried to get a better offer, but no dice. Cancelled contract with 30 days notice.
See if I get a call back

I'm paying £24 for that (& £6 O2 SIM to boost it to 350).

Can I choose to pay for a sim and just not use it? To save money, boost speed
As far as I know yeah you literally just need to take out an O2 sim with the same name/address as the VM account holder and it will then boost your VM speed. Luckily I was at the end of my 12 month deal with Three which has terrible coverage here and although O2 is only a bit better, it was half the price and boosted the broadband so was ideal really.

Yeah, the guy i was talking to didn't seem that interested in what I was saying.
I explained I know of several people getting offered below £30 but he was saying you'll not get a better offer & if you leave you can't come back for at least 3 months etc, all the usual scare tactics.

I'll wait & see if retentions call me back.

Expect you'll get a decent deal when they phone back. I've tried the 'but others pay X' in the past and it didn't work either so go down the route of saying I'd like to cancel and when they ask why, I say I can't afford it anymore and after rejecting the first offer on the phone they offered that which I accepted.

I know I'm being ripped off but had no choice.

Max speed i can get through openreach is FTTC 60 megabit, and there's no plans for FTTP. There is one company doing FTTP but still in design phase, likely end of 2024. Also no 5g in the area.

Waited over a year and a half for VM to complete installation and they've finally done the road works and cabling. Got the install on the 20th.

As they didn't have enough budget on residential side, signed upto Gig1 on business for £65 per month plus VAT for 12 months.

Expensive but much cheaper than getting bonded FTTC etc which would be less speed as well.

Will just move to the residential after 12 months (if they process my cancellation of course).

Does anyone actually know if there would be a penalty to exit the business contract after they install it? So I just go on the residential instead.
