Virgin Media Discussion Thread

After spending around 2 hours on the phone yesterday and 2 hours on chat today I haven't got anywhere with Virgin.
Online there is a deal for M500 + landline for £38 and nowhere does it say new customers only.
I've now gone right to the top past Retentions and all I want is a loyalty gesture seeing that I've been with NTL/Virgin since the mid 90s but they're not complying.
I've told them repeatedly I don't want TV or a landline but they keep coming back with Bundle prices.
They have offered what I have now for £20 less but it means an 18 month contract and like I say I don't need TV or landline so pointless.
I can't wait to find an alternative but it's either slow BT lines or waiting for Lila to connect me.
I have Broadband only with them due to no other providers around here able to provide fiber at all.

Wish I could leave but no 5g and max speed I can get with others is 50mb (got 100mb atm) and need a decent connection for work

I have also been with them since the NTL\Cable Tel days and as others mention no loyalty at all for being a customer for this long

VM contract expires next month, Retentions team's best price to keep my existing Ultimate Volt Bundle was £70pm. I'd have agreed to go for that, if I hadn't seen some people on HUKD in July getting it for £38-40pm somehow?!

I've given my 30 days notice - so will see if the outbound retentions get in touch and offer anything closer to what I was hoping for. Failing that there's an altnet ISP in my area going live very soon for £42pm 1Gb symmetrical which I'd happily jump on as an alternative.
Yeah, thats an amazing price.

So VM retentions just called me back this morning, initially offered me the same Ultimate Volt bundle for £55pm, after the original guy when I rang to cancel offered it at £70pm. Then after a quick "nah I'm ok" offered an additional £7 manager discount, so got it for £48pm. :D

The only caveat to why it was so cheap is because I'm an O2 customer, apparently that equates to around a £25pm discount she said on her system. The O2 SIM I got late last year purely to get the free Gig1 upgrade lol - just £8pm with 30Gb data I chucked in my iPad.

So effectively paying £54pm now for the Ultimate Volt bundle with O2 SIM, I'm happy and call that a win :D

(meanwhile my brother in law shudders as he just renewed with VM a month ago and took the first offer of £99pm, told him to play the game but he couldn't be bothered lol)

Is there a way to see if my area is oversubscribed? I've been with Sky for 4 years are due to change in November, the Supercharged Volt offer for 1GB is tempting but I always remember the latency being terrible when I was on the 250Mbps package.

Looking at the Supercharged Bundle, even though I have no use for an O2 sim but worried that although it's much faster than my current 150Mbps it will be oversubscribed and, worse.

Decent :) Ours is £70 + the unlimited O2 sim my daughter uses, £25 ish I think. Will do the above next year.

No real way of doing it, could check the community forums see if any issues in the area but almost needle in a haystack. Personally our latency is absolutely fine but others mileage varies.

I don't really even use the O2 SIM in my iPad, generally there is WiFi everywhere! Definitely worth utilising for the VM discounts though :p Might even downgrade it to a £6pm tariff, still has 10Gb data. Then only costing me £52pm lol

Hello,

We know you’re expecting a Hub 5, but we’re sorry to say that some of your account features won’t work with this Hub quite yet. This could be because you’ve just upgraded to Hub 4, you’ve got WiFi Pods or your order needs to be installed by a technician instead of installing it yourself with QuickStart.

Unfortunately, that means we’ve had to cancel the order. We’re really sorry about that. You don’t need to do anything, just carry on using your current Hub as usual.

We’ll be making Hub 5 more widely available in 2022 - and don’t worry, we’ll let you know as soon as it’s compatible with your account.

Kind regards,

The Virgin Media team

Ah I'm still on the old hub 3, modem mode with my own router and wifi network.
