Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Oddly since that major outtage there was one blip for a few hours one morning but its been fine ever since. I think they must have improved the lines on my street since I can still get fuller bb speeds @ 8pm before it use to go down to 130 or 50Mbps, either that or my entire street left for Community Fibre:D

Looks like it has resolved itself after weeks, though still spiky on the yellow whereas it used to be flat. Will see if it settles to flatness after a few days.

So VM never contacted me back, their twitter account promised the team would get in touch. They did not. Customer loyalty at VM is dead. The forums were pretty useless too.

Although not holding my breathe because on the 2nd and 3rd May it appeared to have been fixed (having noticed the issue in late April and only enabled the BQM then so it was happening at the start of April too):

Edit* Can a mod remove the attachment bit please? No idea how that has become a thing...

What is going on with VM!

On my end looks like the fix is actually a fix this time round, all settled now, the spike there is downloading a game on Steam:

Was there someone in this thread doing friends & family deals? If so could you PM me please?

Whilst I wait for that potentially happening, what's the best way to order? I don't see any cash back deals at the moment.

I've not played the Sky cancellation dance yet, however I'm pretty sure I'll move to VM and then back to Sky in 18 months time.

Seems my public IP changed last night and now I can’t get BBQM graph to work! Hub5 is in mobem mode connected to USG-3p, I thought there was an option for settings in the hub5 but I don’t have options to allow the ping.
Has this happened to anyone else?
How do you get the BBQM graph to work again(it’s all red now(packet loss))

If your hub is in modem mode, you don't allow ping on it, as it's passing the WAN IP through to the USG and it is doing the firewall etc. You should simply need to update TBB with your new WAN IP which you can find on https://ifconfig.me/

I don't know about business, but there isn't on the consumer line. Only if they send you that yearly email giving you a breakdown of your usage, for marketing rubbish, to make sure you realise how much you rely on them.

Quick update, so looks like back to normal now. Obviously rounds of big downloads spikes are expected but when not downloading, all good...

As for bandwidth usage, unless you're on modem mode and have a router that logs usage, then you'll have to tally up what Windows shows on each machine:

I got that crappy voip phone dongle in the post this week. Is it easy to set up?

Looking to leave VM once we have a decent alternative, but in the mean time need to sort this now, are they dumping the normal phone line service altogether.

Isn't that just a little RJ11 to BT socket adaptor? I would assume Virgin tell you what day the phone service is moving from your copper line to VoIP, so you would move your phone over when they say.
