Virgin Media Discussion Thread

I haven't done further checks yet but since looking into the speeds my connection doesn't seem as good as it was? Downloading games on XBGP I'm hitting only 23MB/s, on Ubisoft was 18MB/s, I know previously I used to get 90+ MB/s on Ubisoft.

Really not sure what's going on as of late.

Do you know what type of unit they supplied, IE have you looked under the cover, we might be able to get some specs if we can identify the unit.
Will it even do more than 4 upstream channels... or is it they just don't have any more to give? Some comment I read was that they wasn't supposed to be rolling out 100MB to that platform. But it might just be noise, not sure. Maybe someone could chip in with more useful info!

@NeoVo Thanks.. is that a standard VM connection IE not FTTP/FTTO or what ever they call it.

No the converter from fibre to catv, RFoG device. You would need to get your screwdriver out I would guess, those sort of boxs used to have anti tamper screws etc.
It's behind my TV unit, I'll have a look at it next time I'm behind there.

Aren't the upstream channels 28 Mbps anyway so even with 4x I should get over the ~87 Mbps I seem to be limited to.

So many Variables... it doesn't apply to you so much but the guy who installed my catv came with a trainee and very little care factor to the point I rolled my eyes and continued to change every connector after he had left the property. He cared more about bragging to the trainee about the how tidy all my gear was, anyway where was I going with this.
Even a stray strand or even a score on the centre core will cause trouble.

Blimey virgin media really are utterly useless, I just managed to see my online offers, I’ve only got 7 days then they expire.

They say my current package is £60, I’m actually paying £40 which was supposed to be £33, the new offer is £67 for the same.

The service I’m moving to is £32.

They made a fuss about switching my phone to voip and it doesn’t work now. I really can’t wait to leave.

Any had any issues with virgin since 3pm yesterday. Virgin say no issues but my Internet is completely unusable

After seeing your post this morning, I checked my graph and it looked awful

I rebooted the hub and it seems to have improved quite a bit.

3 times in the last month they have promised to send me a signal booster. Last night they promised and I asked if I was getting an email confirmation this time. He/she said yes in 4 hours time.

26 hours later and nothing again. Brilliant service.
