Virgin Media Discussion Thread

another basic question i need help with - if i put the superhub5 into modem mode i connect to it via 192.168.100.1 which i understand, but what ip address do i use to login into my fritzbox router? is it the default it ships with (192.168.178.1) or will it be something different like the 192.168.0.1 the superhub used when it was in router mode? i don't want to put SH5 into modem mode, connect my own router then not be able to access the fritzbox settings as i can't find its login page. or am i overthinking things? :)
thanks

I do consume TV services, including TNT Sports which I have now with VM. Even as a new customer with Sky, it works out being more expensive to get the equivalent package. And I'd lose backup broadband.

That is why I am also stuck with VM :o

How much would TNT sports package be with Skys anyhow?

I saw this today in my inbox:

£29.99 extra on top of Amazon primes monthly £9 though

You are overthinking this, if the IP is different you won’t have an issue.

I believe you can access it via http://fritz.box and yes it ships with 192.168.178.1 (unless preconfigured).

It’s easy to change these settings anyway on the Fritz and avoid using 192.168.100. Range. Personally I would change it to 10.0.x.x something.

If in doubt leave it with all default settings!

Anyone can subscribe directly to TNT Sports for 29.99, you don't need Sky, Prime or Virgin etc. I'm going to have to give up watching sport, it's now spread across too many services and each are asking more and more to watch their offering

My contract is up in April. Do I leave in October or April. hmmm.
I'm in the same boat, however I'm not pleased with the pricing. When I first took out the package I'm on, it was £24 - it's currently £35 and jumping to £40 if I renew and when the prices go up in April it'll be £45ish which is a lot of money for their slowest package. I've seen that they're currently offering Gigabit to new customers for that price!

I've spent an hour on hold trying to get through to them today and 2 hours on webchat without actually speaking to anyone. I've had to give up because I have to go to work, I'm a bit miffed off

Mine started £33 for 250Mb and now its £40, out of contract they will expect me to pay £57. I'm done with them!

I've still got VM until March and I'm not even using the connection now as I am running fine on EE 4G SIM I had spare.

I signed up about 18 months ago for £35.99 for 1Gig, contract has now ended so I might swap to 1 GigE FTTP which is available in my new address.

VM are loosing the monopoly in areas, before you had no real option so would go through the cancel and sign back up because you had no choice to get decent speeds.

With FTTP rolling out each FTTP provider has to stay competitive as if you don't get a good deal with BT FTTP, then you move to TTB/Sky whoever.

I’d be interested to know how many users they have actually lost - is it available?

My entire area was Virgin and as soon as FTTP came in everyone left on mass.

I think them not being able to offer TNT is going to hurt them unless they adjust their pricing accordingly.

We pretty much stream everthing these days anyway, so no need to the likes of CATV any more, interesting to see what speeds will be like with VM's FULL FIBRE Rollout 2028 lol
