Hi all

Virgin Media are coming on Friday to install phone and Broadband (no tv).

I have spent a great deal of time getting all my wires (cat6 and co-ax) all internally (wall cavity and under floor) and all finished off with MK logic plus modular wall plate to match the mains sockets / light switches etc.

ideally, i'd like the cable to go into the under stairs cupboard, but there is no easy way for the installer to get the cable to it (without having the cable running along the inside of the wall)

Now, i have some questions, that maybe you guys who have had virgin installed could help with.

1) Will i have to have a Virgin white box on the wall inside the house? it wont match anything and will no doubt look nasty.

2) will Virgin wire to a face plate with a f connector coupler on it? such as:

http://www.euronetwork.co.uk/clip-in-modules/ftype-modules/module-f-type-coupler

or failing that, just run the cable through the wall at the appropriate place with no wall box at all?

3) will virgin add there own phone point? or use the BT phone point thats already there?

4) would they wire to my own choice of master telephone socket? such as:

or

I hope the links are ok as its not something OCUK Sell

Any ideas guys what are your experiences?

Thanks

Really depends on the engineer how far they will go. They are contracted to do a basic install so the engineer might only be willing to do that.

I just let them install it but asked them not to attach anything to the walls and leave the cables loose. I then re-did it myself after they had gone.

when I had mine installed it was fine. when they drilled through the walls they used the envelope method and was really clean even took his shoes off and I was very happy. As the above has pointed out though it will all depend on the engineer that you get.

Good luck

Thanks guys, i'll get the modules in, then i can ask them when they arrive on friday. fingers crossed i'll get a friendly engineer!!

Hard to say really; it all depends on the 'VM Engineer/Technician' and his workload and if he is enthusiastic or not.

I've had some bad and some good. I hope you get a good one! :)
