Does anyone know if VM block/sometimes block certain ports? im having trouble opening ports 80, 20, 21, 443 & 563.
I originally thought it was a problem with my router, I saw on some forums that the Netgear model I was using had a known problem with port forwarding. So I swapped it for my mothers and im getting the same problem, it was working fine up till a few weeks ago and ever since then its been on/off.
Port 3389 works fine for RDP and ports 5800/5900 are working fine for VNC.
My friends on VM and his port 80/20/21 are working fine, but his 563 is also blocked.

Theres definatly no apps or firewalls blocking, but just to be sure i'll try another machine and install the usenet client/http server etc.

I was plugged directly into the modem earlier, but didnt try to run the ports then. I have changed to a totally different router and the same ports are being blocked, so im assuming it wasnt the router.

my router blocks mines even with port forwarding, stupid netgear

I was using a netgear and read some have problems with port forwarding, so ive switched to a completely different router and im still having problems with those ports.

VM have always said they never block ports, although thats not to say they've changed their policy.

After some more playing about it seems its mostly working again (ftp and http is forwarding ok now) 563 and 443 im not sure on, even when downloading from usenet (at full speed) the port is still coming up as closed when I test it.
