Hi I am into my 7th month of my Virgin Media contract but this morning I received a letter stating my bill will go up by £3, I am currently paying £55 with a £10 discount, does this price increase mean I can leave? I am unsure and cannot get through to the Call centre and have checked MSE but it only shows a article from Dec 2014 stating if they upped there prices you could leave penalty free.

Many thanks :)

Make sure you tell them the exact date the letter was received and the date that is marked on the letter as you may find there is a disparity between the two.

I managed to get out of a VM contract after just 4 months when they hiked prices earlier in the year. Saved me a fortune as I was moving off network and probably would have had to pay early termination fees.

My package is going down in price :p

I currently pay £49 for just 152meg and phone. They're always ringing me up trying to get me to take TV but I have a freesat box and there's a reason why i have 152meg... ;)

Anyway they rang me last night and again tried to get me to have TV and by doing so it will make my monthly price cheaper (for a bit).

The Big Kahuna (TV XL, 152meg, M Phone) is £49 plus £16.99 line rental. They're going to give me this for £35.99 for 3months and then £44.99 for the next 9months then it reverts back to the £65.99 for the last 6months (18month contract in total).

So overall it's going to cost me slightly more than I'm paying currently but I was thinking after the original 12months of discounts are over can I drop the TV for the remaining 6months on the contract?

I don't mind signing up for the contract as I have no intention on moving.
