Hi all.

DO NOT RENEW ANY CONTRACTS EARLY NOW

I'm with VM and have the top TV package (maxit) which is all the normal channels, includes Sky Sport, TNT Sports, and all movie channels. 1GB internet, landline (which I dont use), 2 TV boxes and netflix premium. All this is £90 a month.

Anyway, my contract is due to end September. But they keep emailing me asking me to renew now - had 3 emails in 3 weeks asking me to renew my contract!

I looked at the offer and it is £96 a month and has the new megaTV bundle, which is the same as the maxit bundle, but doesn't include TNT sports, that is now seperate and costs £18 a month extra. Also only includes 1 TV box.
This is a con, to try to get people to sign up to a new contract early and lose out of some of what they have already included.

I'm not entirely sure why this requires its own thread? It's standard practice from any business really. But lol at the 'just £178 per month'. £2136 a year for some TV and Broadband, and it'll go up in April too. The sad thing is that there will be some people paying it and are none the wiser.

I actually clicked on the renewal email link as it gave a semi decent deal (now without tnt as that costs £18 extra per month)

Order made and got a email summary of the order and order number.

Was meant to go live yesterday but not heard anything. Went on chat and looks like the order is not in their system and they couldn’t match it. Absolute joke.

From reading in forums, the only way to get a decent deal is to actually give 30 day notice and wait for a call back. Threatening to leave does nothing.

My contract is up in June. Fttp is imminent on my street (they say). But rolling contract with Virgin will be £140 per month! So I may need to sign up with Virgin again.

They wanted to put up my 350 broadband from £40 upto £60, really wanted to leave, but the fastest alternative I can get is 100mb for not much less. I did threaten to leave and the 'cancellation' line gave me a deal of £43 for the same service, not great but I gt fed up of holding on in the end. Took me an hour and half on the phone to get it sorted.

I had an early invite to renew and it was a better deal than I was on, I had 125mb broadband uprated with volt to 250mb, mixit it TV and phone, £31 a month , same package but with 250mb broadband for £29 a month, just got to cancel my O2 contract (£7.02 a month ) which I signed up to, however not gone live yet ?

Have you contacted them to as about the order?

Yes, phoned yesterday, me thinks Virgin have fu, they couldn't find the order or the contract that they sent me, he said that they are very busy and behind with their work orders and that I should phone back on the 25th, the chap I spoke to couldn't match the offer and also said my present contract does not run out until August. Yesterday at 16.45 received another offer to renew by email, when I clicked on it, surprise, it couldn't find the page.
Will update next week but don't hold my hopes up

If you have the details on email they will honour it. Just because whoever you spoke to can’t doesn’t mean VM won’t. Simply that he personally may lack the credit limit and inclination to.

Exact same happened with me too. Link on email now errors out.

I send the advisor the email in pdf format on the chat and he still offering me double the amount. It’s crazy!

Just went on Chat and gave them the order number I received when taking up the renewal offer via email

First person said to wait 14 days after ordering for to become active, i challenged him and ask him to confirm what the order was and he then transferred me to a different department lol.

once through to this new person, i asked him for an update on the order, I just gave the order number, nothing else, he went away and confirmed when the order was placed and said it takes 14 days for to go active, (I wonder if they do this so you cant cancel in the cooling period?), anyway this day is 24th April, so will hang fire until then. See what happens.
