Evening all,

I was after some feedback regarding the Virgin Media Security software which appears to be being supplied to Virgin broadband customers.

I've got a friend who uses this software who is complaining that his PC is running extremely slowly. I've performed a number of quick tweaks to improve performance, however it is still slower than I'd expect it to be in my opinion.

Checking through the process list in task manager, the Virgin Media Security suite does appear to be a somewhat hefty beast. Short of removing it and testing performance of the PC with another AV/Security app, is anyone able to advise whether or not this software is known to be a resource hog and impact performance?

Cheers

Spec?
Processes stealing CPU?
Startup items?

I would remove it as it looks rather rubbish. MSSE, Chrome & OpenDNS will do a better job.

Yes VM's bundled software is rubbish compared to actual AV packages such as MSE.

install avast anti virus and be done with it.

virginmedias AV used to be based on kaspersky i think not sure if it still is
