Virgin Media through PC card

is it possible that i can connect my VM into my pc via a PCI card of sorts therefore do away with my set top box leaving the pc card to do all the work.

Yep you can with cable tv cards. Im pretty sure they exist. Just not sure if theyre compatible with virgin media.
