Virgin Media/Wireless Router

You can get cable on its own without having the other packages. I bought £29/month 20MB cable 102 days ago and nothing else :)

If you must have gigabit connectivity then your budget is where the decent routers are. If you can do with standard 10/100 then the Linksys WRT54GL is where the choice should ideally be :)
 
It'll work out a fair whack cheaper to buy a WRT54GL or Buffalo unit and a dedicated gigabit switch than buy a gigabit router. Also with either of the above you have access to some superb firmware options in the form of DD-WRT or Tomato.
 
If you really want 802.11n and GigE in a single box, take a look at the Linksys WRT150N and WRT300N - both (or at least some versions, YMMV) will run at least some of the third-party firmware that the WRT54GL does.
