I am currently renovating a new property which I plan to move into in January. I will be moving my current VM connection there, but since it is all gutted out at the moment I thought it would be good to fit all the wiring now inside the house (in the floors/ceilings) and then when VM come along they will have a connection outside of the house to hook into rather than drilling through walls etc.

The question is, will they kick up a fuss about this? Also, what cabling do I need to fit to support their 120MB broadband and phone like package?

I think it'll depend on the individual engineer(s) that attend.

My Father wanted the cable running under the floor and pre-installed a pull-cord Virgin could use. Virgin still wanted to surface clip the cable, but they did eventually agree to route the cable as requested.

I can't see it mattering as long as the copper content is high enough - WF100/PF100 (they're the same as far as I can tell) will do the trick. The only issue you might have is that VM like to use compression fittings which are very fussy about the size of cable they go onto, but in that case you can just put a screw-on F connector on and it won't make a difference to the signal.

How are you planning to present the connection on the outside of the house? Waterproof box hidden behind some bushes?

I was thinking a waterproof box on the left wall of the house with a cable ending in one of these:

Virgin use a double cable don't they? I believe one is for the broadband and the other for the phone. Anyone know exactly what I need to buy?

I did my own cabling in my spare room, the VM engineer was quite pleased. He said it would have taken him at least an hour. It meant he was going get an early finish as I was his last call.
