We got 50mb virgin installed about a month ago and the router has cut off the internet on about 6/7 different occasions and needs to be restarted, when this happens the network connection goes to local only on all computers in the house. Is there anyway to fix this? as its getting very annoying.

Thanks :)

I had that problem, got a switch for free and seemed to fix the problem.

I think the netgear thing is just a bit poo, so you either get a new one or reduce the load it has to handle.

What do you mean get a switch, I have a switch that 2 of the 4 computers in the house are connected to, that gets the bulk of the data transfers. The other 2 computers are laptops that connect to the router, and all they do is surf the internet. That router must be a piece of crap if it cannot handle 3/4 computers connected at once

Lucky you, you got the DIR615? If you did then either ask if Virgin can supply a new router or look for the non-virgin firmware for one of those, it should help. I've got the Netgear super hub thing and it's pretty terrible (imo), similar problems to what you're describing but I don't have the option of swapping out to a different router yet.

Well if we were gaming and doing some transfers over lan its would cut out, it was probably the vm firmware they put on it though.
