Fibre.

Haven't BT been working on fibre to premises for a while now?

From other forums, 50meg is cack for pings, cack for gaming and generally rarely anywhere close to 50meg.

Having said that, since they launched it, my 20meg has been super speedy 90% of the time.

Meh, typo.

If truth be told, that could be said for any ISP in the world.

True, But to my knowledge cable uses fiber to the green cabinets in the street then coax from there to the houses. Where as using a phone line for internet means much longer distance before it switches over to fiber which is why distance from exchange is so important on adsl but irrelevent for cable.

They have recently got the go ahead from ofcom that they wont interfear with BTs pricing if they deploy FTTC. Which means BT will start laying fiber to the green cabinets in the street soon.
