I've been getting a lot of junk into my old NTL mailbox in the last couple of weeks. The usual canadian drugstore stuff etc.

Have Virgin/NTL turned off the spam filtering?

I'd phone them up and complain, but it's an old mailbox from when I lived with my folks. Now using Sky as Virgin didn't cable up my street...

I have noticed this aswell, my virgin box is getting hit constantly and I havent used it for anything

Bloody BotNets and their spamming machines  I've seen a massive increase in spam here, and my email has never been publicly posted. Just the good old fashioned "make up a million email addresses and carry on spamming the ones that don't bounce as unknown" technique.

Free delivery on Prada/Gucci designer shoes... I just saw your profile and it was impressive... Never disappoint her again... Medicines at the very best prices...

They're getting weirder and weirder! LOL

There was a tutorial in last month's Linux Format magazine detailing how to get around this. Apparently you can configure mail servers/clients to not respond to the first request of an incoming email. Legitimate email providers will try again in a short time frame, spammers will presume it's a non-existent address and leave you alone. In theory. I'll dig it out if anyone's interested?

Thanks for the tip. I'll give the spam settings a try.

I suspect I can't get to Selfcare, will probly need to go visit Mum for dinner :D
