I'm currently on the 2mb connection but my connection keeps dropping, one minute it seems fine and then another it takes ages to load and then fails to load websites. it took about 5 refreshes to just get on this forum

Im in the nottingham area but cant see anything on Virgins site that shows any work being carried out

I've just been told Virgin introduced something to slow your connection down if you download quite a lot. Now i downloaded about 5 gig worth of stuff the other day before this started to happen. i dont usually download any where near that amount but ever since then i've had these slow downs and its frustrating. is there any truth in this or is it just a coincidence ?

If the above is true, how long does i take before they give you your full speed back again ?

Pipes are throttled in the evening if you exceed the limit but only for 5 hours, I think.
How are you connected ? wired or wireless.
What router/modem are you using ?
How are you checking speeds ?
When was the last time you ran Ad Aware SE or Spybot S&D ?

I'm on wireless using a Linksys usb adapter, the main computer is connected through enthenet to a Linksys WRT54GL router and is exactly the same.

I'm not sure what modem i have, its a little blue one that was provided by NTL.

Spyware check was done yesterday but nothing was found
