Current I get TV and 60mb broadband through Virgin. Have just cancelled my contract and signed up with Sky for my TV package (12mths half price through MSE)
I considered Sky for Internet but it would be £30 a month for the same package as below so I’ve ruled them out even though it would be handy to have everything on a combined bill.
Virgin would be £19.50 a month and no up front fees (as i already have everything) for 60mb. I get decent speeds with them and although theres sometimes some slowdown, i seem to have been downloading about 800gb amonth for the last few months and they've not said anything. I also have the option to increase to 100mb for £27.50 a month. Perhaps I could get this for free if I agree to stick with them. Contract would just be rolling
Plusnet charge £6 up front for their router (not much really) and then it would be £19.99 a month for their Unlimited Fibre package which has an estimated speed of 54mb. This would tie me in to an 18month contract.
From what I’ve read Plusnet seem to be pretty well spoken about around these parts which sways me towards them, however Virgin would require a lot less hassle and no changeover period.
EDIT: Here are the details of my exchange, which puts my house about 3/4 of a mile away
