So Virgin are increasing there prices in Febuary

I phoned them they said my bill would be going up 3 pounds I said I wanted to leave as I wasn't happy and from when you receive a letter about it you have 30 days to leave penalty free if you've not had a letter then you can leave when you want free.

I had no intention to leave but went on about bt and getting it cheaper there after some haggling the best deal I believe possible to get them is

30 pounds credited to you account to pay as they can't offer a discount for it but can credit ur account for some reason

Also 3 months free sky movies and and sky sports

Bt and talktalk also took price increases on December the first and you can leave penalty free so phone and get haggling

Always worth haggling with Virgin retentions, they will offer you TV / broadband / phone for less than the advertised price of just broadband. They want you locked in to a 12 month deal and they'll shave a fair bit of cash off to do it.

When I called them a couple of weeks ago to cancel my TV package they offered me **** all:D
Since moved TV to sky & now saving £20 pm on the same package.

Again!? It only went up by nearly a tenner not that long ago, thieving little blighters.

I got the email today. I'm on 'mates rates' package - £57 pm for 1 x Tivo, 1 x HD, 150Mb tinterwebz and free phone all the time. hmmmmmmmm - not sure if worth it to looks elsewhere....

I noticed a little article on the BBC News site just recently, at least part of the increase is due to line rental prices

"Sky: up by 6.49% to £16.40 a month
BT: up 6.25% to £16.99
Virgin Media: up 6.25% to £16.99
Talk Talk: up 4.7% to £16.70"

I'm currently with BT, but will be looking to change later in the year. Last year I paid the line rental as a one-off to get a discount but it looks like even the discount on doing that has been reduced. I've been thinking about switching to PlusNet, but no doubt the line rental wholesale cost will also ripple through if it hasn't already.

I posted this in the VM thread a couple of weeks ago.

Come home, letter from Virginmedia about prices increasing by a fiver.
On the blower to them,
"Listen lad... I've still not had my supposedly free speed upgrade that was promised last year when the prices were increased by a fiver and now the price is increasing again... gimmie one reason why i shouldnt **** off to another provider.."

"Free Tivo box, free delivery, speed increase and price freeze at what you are paying a the moment for the next 12 months."

"Laffin lad."

I'm also on mates rate, but i have an email saying my price is locked for 18 months.

So time I ring them up me thinks!

I don't know if this link will work for you as I am logged in to my account ,here goes anyway.

If anyone sees this and wants to take advantage I can send them your email and I'll get a small kickback myself.

Those deals look really good but once you look into they fully and see you are locked in for 18 months they are not so great plus you get forced to take the phone line which adds another £16 on top of advertised price.

I've been kicking myself that I can't register with them as a new customer for those deals.

From my experience Virgin are open to business and will do you a deal anyway.
