Virgin price increase

I'm getting 30MB broadband for £26.50 a month, no tv or phone. Think I could get a better deal, what should I ask for?

I'm getting the 152mb package for £30 a month no tv or phone, poor girl on the phone eventually caved to a good deal

I noticed last year that we were paying more for our package than newcomers when eventually they paid full price, phoned up & they checked it out & said they will give us a 'loyal customer' reduction :rolleyes: to the correct price for our package provided we agreed an 18 month contract which we did, we only have phone & b/band -no TV package but we got a letter saying they are upping our charge by £3.60 so presumaby our 'loyalty ' discount will be removed as they are doing new contracts presumably

Curious to see what happens myself as I did the exact same thing last Christmas. I did dig out my paperwork to check what they'd actually offered, and it does only call it a loyalty discount, so, depending on what my February bill says, I guess I'm going to have to either lump the price increase, phone them to see if I can get a better deal, or do what I was going to do last year after their CS ****** me off and jump ship to PlusNet.

I'd rather not move, but at least with PN I can get a static IP so I can actually make my mail server a little more RFC compliant ;)

My GF is on Virgin Media and her package was extremely over priced so I gave them a call last week, and they did mention the price increase. Will worth a call if your out of contract managed to get the following deal;

150mb Internet
L TV
XXL Phone

£42, this is with a decent discount. She wants to leave anyways but doesn't have FTTX in her area yet.

Just got our letter, cost is going up by £5.39 a month. I have 30MB Broadband, L TV and XL Phone (not that I want a phone line) for which I'm being billed £75 per month - I'm sure I could get a Sky package with all the channels for that! Time to call retentions I think.

Would I be right in saying that VM allow you to cancel your contract early if you give them 30 days notice if they increase price mid contract? And this is irrespective of the OfCom rules that changed January 2014?

I started my contract December 2013 and really want cancel my 18 month contract early without penalty.

Yes, it's even stated in the OP :p

I'm on mates rates big khauna bundle, TV/phone/152MB fibre at £50.99 P/M

The best they could offer me was £54 credited to my account to cover the price increase.

That's all they could offer me so I had to take it, as I had no intention of leaving.

Your paying far too much, my GF has L TV XL phone, 100mb net and pays £42. I would call up and start to poke around and see what you can get, it would be really handy if you look up their website deals, and what BT/Sky can offer and use that as a bargaining tool.
