Customer has virgin broadband but has problems VPN'ing into work as the sbs2003 server is the same IP as his local router.

Its just a netgear dg834 but when I change its local ip (and refreshed his) it stops him browsing the internet etc.

Any ideas?

Change his LAN DHCP Pool on the Routers Admin page - then IPCONFIG /Release && IPCONFIG /Renew from a command prompt on his PC

Rob7865 - The DCHP pool changed its self after the new LAN IP was appliied. I know this because I told him to disconnect & reconnect to the wireless and do an ipconfig. His ip had changed and the default gateway

fluff - I didn't try flushing the DNS but wouldn't have thought that was the issue, will bare that in-mind though.

I just thought maybe virgin had managed to stop people doing this sort of thing, I know they do or used to lock down mac addresses and things.

I'm assuming you have rebooted the router after making the changes as it will need to recreate the routing table. I had a problem similar to this with a router in france which I needed to change for the exact same reason.
