So I know Virgins TM policy, however something I am unclear on is:

If I start a download now that is say 2GB, and it isn't finished by 4pm, does this instantly put me over the 1.5GB download allowance for 4-9pm? Or does what I have downloaded before 4pm not count?

Eg.

Download 1.5GB before 4 (fine in line with traffic management in the afternoon) then I download the last 500MB afterwards?

If you download the last 500MB after 4, then you will have used 500MB of that 1.5GB allowance before the STM kicks in, meaning you can download another 1GB without problem. Whatever you do before the STM time start is irrelevent, it starts counting the transfered data at 4PM, and the counter starts at 0MB, even if you just downloaded many GB.

I just found out about this, dint realise it before, and I must say it sucks, big time, not impressed, beena nd dbl checked and they advertise their packages as having no download limits, now I suppose this is technically correct because you can still carry on downloading, but in my mind its not wholly true and they should be done for misleading advertising, insert lots of expletives here

They do also say it's up to 10/20/50Mb

Damn dude, even if you hit the limits you can comfortably do 60 gigs a day on their entry-level (L) package. The policy is clearly footnoted on their website and their STM system is public. Virgin deserve criticism for many things but this isn't really one of them imho

that would involve leaving pc on overnight, and as its in my bedroom i dont like doing that, it chucks out too much heat, its not a major issue, I just didnt know about it, I cant remember reading about it when I signed up a few years ago

Truly Unlimited(Sky 20Mb) or Very high fair use(All Be/02) > Transparent speed capping policy(All Virgin) > Usage cap or Low fair use > Hidden speed/usage cap.

They have no download limits you can download as much as you want in a month, they just STM in the busy hours simple, i can average 600gig a month bro uses lots of bandwith when he uses things for work.

I have been on a hard cap Adsl connection and i don't ever want to go back on one if VM introduced one i would jump ship and go on Be, the only reason i won't now is my speeds are good on 50mb 6230kbs and it has no STM for now and i would only get 10-12 meg on Be which isn't enough.
