My virgin broadband went to 200MBPS today and ive no issues with virgin at all... other than this super hub, the signal distance is terrible. I have the hub in my room upstairs with my pc and another pc downstairs. The downstairs pc connects via 5g wireless but only transfers at 100MBPS on speedtest my upstairs cabled gets 201mbps and if i move my TV pc upstairs in the same room i get 201MBPS wirelessly? Surley in the room below it should get a stronger connection than that?

Also my phones (samsung s6 and iphone 6s plus) lose signal around the house, i dont live in a huge mansion just an average semi-detached.

My question is, am i asking too much from my wireless or can someone point me in the direction of a hub that will help my distance/speed issue?

is something like this

what i would need to be looking at?

that won't work with virgin media.. because virgin media isn't VDSL/ADSL it's cable. you can't buy a cable modem/router hub for virgin media

you have to use your superhub in modem mode + a separate router

you need something like this:

well i didn't know that!

thanks a lot! Ill have a look at how to set it to modem only and use a seperate box, maybe easier in long run wiring it up down outside of the house and having a switch under my tv unit!

well virgin engineer coming tommorow to move the superhub downstairs and ill be running a ethernet cable up the side of the house. less wireless and hopefully downstairs will get better signal then!

Just a quick question for those people using an additional hub to the SH, when in modem mode, is the port used still only 100 mb/s? or will it throttle whatever speed from the third party router into that modem only port.

All the ports run up to gigabit so as long as the router you are going to use has gigabit ports it will run at a full gigabit connection between the superhub and the 3rd party router.
