My 18 month contract for a HTC HD2 with Virgin is coming to an end. They sent me the HTC Wildfire S to try. I don't like it at all. It just feels outdated and cheap.

I have been out of the mobile phone scene for quite some time, so here is my question: Are all of Virgin's phones a bit outdated, or am I am missing something when I look through their selection? Link to site is here: http://www.virginmobile.com/vm/payAsYouGoPhones.do

Perhaps my best bet is the Desire S, but I thought that has been out for over a year... I've always wanted to try a Blackberry, but Virgin's selection seems again to be of phones that have been out for quite some time.

Help appreciated.

Thanks for advices. I might go for the the SIM only plan for now as I am not really interested in any of the phones on offer. But then again, Virgin's coverage has in my experience not been great. Lots of places where I only get crappy reception and my girlfriend, who is with Three, gets very good reception.

I am still happy with the HD2. Perhaps I should spend a couple of hours on xda and get Android on it rather than swapping to something else...

Undecided to the max.

I would just like to say that this thread wins the 2011 award for Most Suggestive Title On A Virgin Product Thread.

Once you start on the Virgin thingy, well...

I spoke to Virgin:

- Will send the Wildfire S back
- Am on a SIM only deal for now
- Going to phone back around 17 July when the SG2 is supposed to be out
