Anyone here use Virgin Media with their XBOX 360 and its wireless adaptor?

If so, how easy was it to connect up and go? – Sky was good and picked up straight away, where as I am new to Virgins technology so would like a simple connect and go too…..

Advice / tips / reassurance welcome :D

Mine was just plug and play, apart from obviously having to enter any sort of WEP/WPA security key on the 360 :)

You shouldn't notice any difference really between Sky and Virgin in terms of setting it up.

argh - the modem they send is not wireless enabled is it :(

so, whats the best piece of kit to purchase that will work with cable connections?

1 bloomin port too - so i have to switch from PC to 360 each time i need either ffs!

I just use a normal router, cant remember what my housemate bought it. Seems ok but I run a cable direct anyway. Use the wireless for my laptop

but the modem has a connection to the V+ box - one of those metal type things, if you see what i mean - so that must be how the modem gets the connection

i have a netgear and dlink adsl router - neither have this port, so another purchase then it seems :(

Its standard for cable modems. You need to plug the modem into the router i suggested using the supplied Ethernet cable, you can then plug up to 4 other Ethernet devices and connect wireless devices to it also.

Sky simply supplied a ADSL router with a modem built in - these don't exist for cable modems, you have to use a separate router if you want to connect multiple devices.

ok - so i can plug my modem via ethernet into the Sky Netgear router for example.... this can then be used as the wireless acess... jeez thats complicated and dosent that complicate the speed of traffic?

I very much doubt that'll work as it's a ADSL router.

You need to buy a cable router like the one i posted above, in fact for the money the one i posted is hard to beat.

In terms of complicating traffic, no, it won't. I'm downloading a file at 2.3 megabytes/second at this very moment (which is the very maximum a 20megabit connection is capable of) while my dad is using his PC downstairs and my PS3 is wirelessly streaming media from my PC all without a hitch, this is on a virgin 20mbit connection using the router i suggested.
