Virginmedia new router/modem (Netgear VMDG280)

Does anyone have one of these.

I cant seem to find it on Netgear's website besides this model which looks exactly the same.

Is this the same one just virgin media branded ?

It says DOCSIS® 3.0, so am I right in thinking virgin are giving these out to customers to slowly move over to new infrastructure.

I have one and it does look identical to the link you put up. The only name on it is netgear dosent say virgin anywhere.

Ive had it a week, however i think id prefer the small blue modem + seperate wireless router that i had before. I wouldnt have had this if it wasnt for the fact my blue modem broke and this is what they replaced it with.

The internet dosent 'feel' as snappy as it did before even tho speedtests ive done indicate im connected at over 19Mb so maybe its my imagination

I would prefer just bog standard modem, with out routing function.

However if this modem/router combi supports DOCSIS 3.0, then it should be a good future upgrade.

can anyone confirm what DOCSIS its supports ?

I think you need to check web interface for the router.

Maybe someone else on the forum can shed some light.

I have one so where will it say

Cant see anything in the web interface that says DOCSIS

The VMDG280 is rubbish. You have to disable the firewall to get it to work at a reasonable pace. With it on it only takes a few tabs in Firefox on one PC loading at the same time to cause the router to fall over.

Ah that explains why mine dosent feel as snappy as my older modem
