Got my new mail server up and running and all seemed good until this morning.

Got an email from one of my users and every time he tries to email a certain person, he gets the following error..

<**@********.co.uk>: host *****.******.com[**.**.**.**] said:
550 <**@********.co.uk>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in
virtual alias table (in reply to RCPT TO command)

Any ideas how to fix this?

Cheers,
Andy

Assuming the 550 is coming from your server that's a bit weird it rejecting mail for other domains. Can that user email anyone else at that domain or can your other users email that same address?

I've tried emailing it from my address.. Same server, different domain and it returns the same error.

I've checked the maillog and my server seems to be trying to connect to their mail server and timing out for most of the day.

Apparently my user used to send email to him OK, but we took over the hosting for their company last weekend and now he can't.

Well I thought I'd try emailing it from our old server which has no filtering set up on it anymore. It still fails and Postfix times out when connecting..

May 10 11:02:17 localhost postfix/smtp[6074]: 9A16E4A83F: to=<**@*******.co.uk>, relay=none, delay=30, status=deferred (connect to mail.********.co.uk[**.**.**.**]: Connection timed out)

I can't even telnet into it.. At least it doesn't look like its a problem my end!
