Virtual Desktop

So, where are we collectively when it comes to putting your screen onto your VR headset?
Do you mean where in the headset do I put my pc desktop? If so, I put mine along the wall in my bedroom usually (I only use Virtual Desktop in my bedroom), have it as big as 1 of the walls, great for watching Netflix etc.

lots of people use VD (Virtual Dekstoo (the software)) to either player or use 3D applcaitions or stream a a flat screen in to a virtual cinema enviroment.
this is the original : https://www.vrdesktop.net/
and still highly regarded software, released before meta's offering (they tried to kill it!) and steams offering.

in release order
Virtual Desktop
Meta Air link
Steam Link
are your main 3.
you can use a hardware cable also.

its generally prettygood expirence, not perfect but no cables attached is fantastic.
i've played aroubnd with it a little recently but dont have any good set up home to take advantage of it right now.

Yeah, I felt flush, so I bought Walkabout Golf and Virtual Desktop. There is Remote Desktop as well, which is still beta but seems to do the job. I just wondered if there were any reasons to go for one over any other.

from what others have said, its sort of like one way works better than another for some apps. so its a bit of trial and error.
Virtual Desktop is the gold standard though IMHO others will compare to.

one other thing to consider is, some of them offer Cable conenction instead of WiFi.

Also if you're interested in watching movies or TV in VR there are other ways to do it.

The built in browser now properly supports Disney+, Netflix, Amazon Prime and other streaming services.
SkyboxVR is a great program for watching various types of video content, including streaming from your PC.
4XVR is the best player to use for watching blu-rays in VR without having to re-encode them, including 3D ones (which are normally a pain to convert to SBS format).
Bigscreen allows you to watch movies with other people, though the streaming quality isn't amazing. It also allows you to view your desktop in VR.

Is it not possible to launch multiple RDP sessions from a virtual space to work on multiple machines from the vastness of VR, ideally with real keyboard and mouse input :)

Even better if it supported multimonitor RDP mode :)

I've got SkyBoxVR and BigScreen, SkyBoxVR is good as it allows you to connect an external USB-C drive to your Q3 (Maybe earlier models as well) so you can watch stuff off of that, however you have to have the external drive plugged in when you power up IME...

i just connecrted an external usb-c harddisk and re-launched the SkyboxVR App
with jellyfin you can stream video content over HTML5 containers to webbrowers as well.
