Virtual Hard Drive? How :/

I am using Windows XP Pro.
I have 2 Hard Drives, one is "System" and one is "Boot".
They are "E:" and "D:" respectively and cannot be changed drive letter due to their aforementioned "system" and "boot" status'.

I have an old game that only accesses the C: Drive... which doesnt exist, so it cant save anything. I would like to set up a virtual hard drive (so that it is actually just a folder on one of my other drives) which i can assign drive letter C: to and thus fool this game into working.

Any suggestions?

Got a USB key?
A winner is you.

Incidentally the game is World Championship Snooker 2004 so its not that old, but im assuming they ported it from PS2 or something and didnt THINK.

If anyone does know how to set a virtual drive on a hard drive then please do reply as i'd still like to know the answer. Its just not imperative anymore.

Have you tried the SUBST command ?

Go to a command pompt and type:

subst c: e:\foldername

you will now have a c drive, made up of that folder.

Didn't know that, good tip!

Can't you just use "tools/map network drive" in explorer?

I've got my shared docs set as Z: when its just a folder on my C: drive.

thanks for the subst command, so quick and painless :P ill remember that one!

No problem at all - good old DOS

It will also go into a batch file, so you create a new launcher for your game, which does the subst command and launches your game...
