Hello,
I have downloaded the 32 bit windows 7 beta 3 times and on each occasion when using the iso to boot from on Virtual PC, it says Invalid System disk

Any ideas on how to remedy this?

I must use VPC so please don't recommend Virtual Box or something similar as I know they are better but in this situation must use Virtual PC

Thanks guys

Regards,
Neil

Have you captured the ISO using Virtual PC? Or selected the correct optical drive as the DVD drive in the pull down menu?

My ISO is the same size as yours SiD

I did capture the ISO correctly within Virtual PC.

Will try mouting it using the program SiD suggested.

Will updated asap

UPDATE:

Yes, I can explore the disk fine when I mount the ISO in Virtual Clone drive.

EDIT: I ahve also just tried creating a brand new VPC and capturing the ISO for that but I still get the Invalid System Disk error. What else could be causing this!

Any other ideas guys?

Thanks

Regards,
Neil

UPDATE:

I have now just tried to capture the following ISO's:

- Windows 7 PDC08 Build
- Ubuntu 8.10

and both also give the same error so it's obviously not the ISO I downloaded.

Any ideas now?

Sorry for multi posting, can someone merge them all?

Hmm perplexing. I've written out my steps to at least boot off the disc below, see if anything is different to you:

  1. Install Virtual PC with SP1.
  2. Create a new VM and VHD.
  3. Start the VM and immediately go to CD -> Capture ISO image.
  4. Browse to and select the ISO.
  5. The VM continues to boot and goes into the installer.

If that's the same as what you did, then I'm out of ideas :(

Just tried reinstalling Virtual PC and no effect at all

Just tried booting Virtual Box from the same ISO's and that works perfectly but I have to use VPC in this instance so if anyone suddenly has any great ideas then please let me know!

Thanks

Neil
