im trying to setup virtual windows xp on my windows 7 machine.

i know i need to set hardware-assisted visualisation to enabled in the bios which i have done but when i run virtual windows xp i get a popup saying its still disabled...

sorry if this is in the wrong place but does anyone have any ideas?

What CPU do you have? Often the BIOS allows you to mask/unmask the feature to the operating system even if your CPU doesn't actually support hte feature.

You also need to enable execute bit disable before hardware assisted virtualisation will work. I am not sure of the name given to this technology on AMD motherboards but it should be mentioned in the manual.

Yup, although I'm not sure what it'd be called on your board. On my Asus board it's in the advanced section under CPU, and it's called "Execute Disable Function";

Unfortunately I've not worked with an AMD system in years so I'm not sure if it's called the same thing. Apparently AMD give the technology a different name though, which is why I figured they might cal it something else.
