that happens if the start menu is not opened. this normal or can i fix this? i like to have the task bar on bottom and able to see the ubuntu desktop under it not have that

Id second what fishfishfish said, its even worse if you hav dual screens
But try downloading compiz switch and change window manager to metacity when you want to use seamless mode and you should be ok
i think its using compiz, just installed ubuntu 8.10, so default it uses compiz i think... how would i switch to metacity? me linux noob
