Ok I am trying to run a trial version of server 2008R2 on my laptop duel core pentium with 4mb ram win 7 home edition

I downloaded the virtual pc 2007 (64 bit vers) and tried to install but it came up with a message saying that my system is incompatible? Is this because I am run home and not proffesional? EXcuse my lack of knowledge but I have spent many years using xp..

If I cannot user the above programe is there anyway round it so that I can mount this ISO on my laptop?

a) i don't think virtual pc supports 64 bit guests. i'd recommend vmware player over virtual pc. it's far superior in every way. it's free of course but you do have to fill out some mumbo jumbo forms on the vmware site to create an account.

b) also, your cpu might not be upto it. it needs to support Intel hardware virtualisation technology. not all pentium dual cores can. for example, the e5200 in my sig can't. i can run 64bit windows but it can't support a 64bit guest virtual machine. if this is the case and you want to try 2008 r2, you'll have to dual boot or replace your existing OS completely.
