Hi all,

A friend at work (the IT lad) sent me an install yesterday with a halflife2 mod on it, as i clicked to install it my virus checker went mad. 5 warnings popped up, sent them all to quarentine, however, it didn't seem to help.

I've run Spybot S&D and a full scan with Avira, I've also tried something called ComboFix that runs through all its tests and then blue screens.

The "Error loading sojs.moj" has only appeared since running all the above.

Anyone got any ideas on how to try and fix it? or somewhere I can go for help?

I've ordered a 1TB HDD from OCUK that should be here tomorrow, and the lad who's file caused this is going to let me use the works Windows 7 Ultimate disk & licence. However, i'd like to try and clean this before I start backing everything up as I don't want to transfer the problem to the new HDD.

Can you boot in safe mode and get to the desktop? If so download malwarebytes and give that a go. Had something simliar happen to me last year and malwarebytes removed it.

The IT guy sent you a mod packaged with malware, and to make amends he's going to (presumably) let you use the company's volume license key? Jeez.

Anyway in addition to the above advice I'd be careful about inserting removable storage devices. I'd personally use a Live CD to rescue the files you want. If you're just backing up pictures, documents, music and video files you should be fine.

do a system restore to before you installed it

It disabled system restore :(

It seems that this one worked a treat, took 3 hours though but it definitely seems to have done the job!

Thanks everyone! :D
