Got a PC at work that someone has managed to get a virus on, now we could raise a ticket and wait 2-3 months before a techie comes from London to fix it but as we have admin rights why not try it ourselves.
First port of call was to install Malwarebytes but it won't run.
Whatever it is has locked the PC down completely, no internet access, no task manager, no launching programs. The only things that works is a fake antivirus that did a scan then says you need to buy it in order to proceed. Anitvira AV is the virus checker it says it is but the work PC's have Symantec on them.
Malwarebytes was our first and only hope.
Any advice or is it a case of waiting for the techie to reinstall? Only here for another 30 mins then not in until Sat so won't be able to try anything after then.
