ok well....

my laptop has about 200 viruses and more spyware on it, it's so bad lol. The viruses transfer onto other computers on the network ( evan though it's not in the same workgroup, or has no permissions on other computers ), and i can't use task manager etc on the laptop, the viruses blocked me for using those admin tools ;)

So i came into this forum, cause i knew there was free AV links stickie ( visiting the forum from the laptop ). And everytime i open a page thats got somthing to do with anti virus the browser closes... so i downloaded AVG on my pc and droped it in the C drive over the network onto the laptop ... bad idea, now theres viruses on my pc ( removing easily atm, cause i already have an AV on here ).
But i cant install AVG on the laptop, the wizard closes itself when i try to install it ( probably the virus ).

So it looks like i'm gonna have to format it, but this time i think i'll use an AV :p

The laptop isnt good at all ( 128 ram, 800 mhz cpu ). What would be the best AV to use with it, not slowing it down much ? And are those free ones any good?

when I ran windows on my laptops i used avast and thought it was very good - however; on that spec of laptop (depending on what you use it for - for example web browsing and music) it may be an idea to try something like puppy linux - which doesn't need an anti virus as it can't get infected by a win32 virus.... just a thought.

That puppy linux looks like the best choice for me, it looks realy awesome! thanks for letting me know about it! :)

If I can't find drivers for my wireless card that work with Puppy, i'll just stick windows back on with an AV.

I didn't use an AV to start with because it slowed the laptop down loades ( i used norton ) and i thought any AV would have slowed it down as much as norton does.
