virus programme question

thanks for replies..

i use AVG and Malwarebytes and after a reset the other week i have less amount of files than i did over last 3-4yrs and i know things like that can take its time, was just curious as to whether it was a self doing thing or can be sped up by user.. i use a laptop, so have a 5200rpm HDD.
 
malware i always do quick scan, but with AVG i notice it only does full scan..

i only use these 2 because they free and worked out well for me over the years, i just dont know if theres any better/quicker and still free as i installed something before and got adware and crap like that, so was gone instantly(was free still). i used to have norton 360 when i brought the computer, but after the year sub ended i got rid at which point i opted for the free stuff i currently use..
