Hey guys,
Can't believe what I've done - So stupid of me but want to check.
So was downloading a file - Chrome said it might be dangerous but I ignored because I normally trust the site.
Then checked the file because it was odd that it came up. It was a ms-dos executable or something of the sort. I quickly deleted it and emptied the trash without running it. Obviously the site is no longer trustable.
So considering it wasn't run by me, my anti-virus didn't catch it (and therefore wouldn't have scanned it and triggered it I assume) and I deleted it, I am safe? I am admin on my account but I have UAC active on the third setting (not max which I have just changed it too).
Doing a full scan just in case but paranoid me as it were needs to check I don't need to do a full reinstall (which would be a nightmare)
Cheers
Ash
Edit: I think it was a .com file. Part of me thinks because the file name contains the website name, they've changed the name and forget to add the extension.
