Hi guys what virus scanner do you think is the best one i can get. I dont care how much it costs !

I think that Kaspersky is based on NOD32 (or the other way round) so they're very similar in performance.

Wrong.

I personally don't think the payware offer enough over and above the freeware, particularly Avira. If you want some proof, check this out.....

;)

I always thought with the free version Avira that it did not offer Real Time Resident Protection, or is this not the case now?

It only supplies real time scanning not on-demand.

are you 100% sure?

i installed it on my laptop because it's not a realtime scanner

nod32 or kaspersky if you want to pay

i've setup nod32 for a few businesses, i get zero hassle from it and every symantec system it's replacd, it's picked up tons of junk that symantec missed

Yep, I'm sure.

I'd recommend Bitdefender personally, cheap as chips and lots of awards/reviews to back it up. Failing that I have Kaspersky on some of the family PC's and its pretty autonomous. Also if you have a Barclays account online you can get a free 3 license copy.
