Virus troubles?

I have recently installed windows 8 onto my laptop and getting a program to activate has been a real PITA so i did the bad thing and used a crack (Which didn't work) so i assume the program and everything associated with it is too old and barfed now.

Now my problem.. Afterwards i thought id see if it was infected (I don't use cracks for this one reason)

PUP.Riskware.Patcher

What does this mean? I ran malwarebytes and bitdefender and they can find no further problems. Does this mean nothings wrong or could this program of caused me some serious issues.. If so i shall reformat and iv had my lesson

It means potentially unwanted program - software patch/crack.

A patcher is used to "crack" software applications and turn them into full versions.

Unlikely to be malicious.

Anything apart from what i have already done to make sure its left nothing malicious behind or which could hurt my system?

Malwarebytes with latest definitions full system scan in safemode, if possible.
