Morning all
I have managed to get a virus or spywear that when my computor boots it immediately takes me to a brouser page trying to get me to buy some stuff, its not like a normal browser page that you can minimise or call up your task bar so I cant do anything about it. I have tried booting into safe mode and my computor just resets.
Im pretty sure if I could get to msconfig I could stop this from starting up but I cant because everything is behind this page.

Is there a key combo that will force this page to minimise or shutdown? I have tried alt tab and alt F4

Can you get into safe mode with a command prompt?
Whats the exact virus trying to sell? Do you have access to another machine to do a bit more research about the virus to find potential ways to remove it?

If you have a bootable cd like hirens, mini win7, a proper os bootcd or can use the repair function in vista, win7 etc and are able to browse the HD using one of these using the command prompt option then navigate to the folder
C:\Users\*YOURUSERNAMEHERE*\AppData\

From here you should see three folders. Check the folders for any randomly name generated .exe's (like ehduehffupoo.exe) and clear out the temp folder.

Another option would be to try system restore from the repair console and then run a full malware/virus/rootkit scan if the machine boots correctly.

What happens if you hit control+alt+del? Do you get to see taskman? If you can then you maybe able to stop the process from running and run msconfig/other usefull tools.

I bet it's the FBI virus or something similar. I cleaned it off my uncle's with a program whose name has completely escaped me!

I cant run any mail or virus programmes because as soon as it boots this page comes up and I can not navigate anywhere.
I didnt try commant prompt in safe mode I just tried booting into safe mode with out any network drivers and it went back to post screen as soon as it loaded, I'll try command prompt when I get home, if this does work what will I need to do?
If I ctl alt del I can choose taskman but it must be sitting under this page and I cant do anything with it
