Hi guys, laptop says it is infected with blaster worm and wont let me load any exe files. Simples i thought, download anti virus and install in safe mode! Only I can't do this.

Any ideas how to get malwarebytes or equiv installed on a laptop that isnta closes any executable files?

Pretty sure this virus isn't blaster worm btw and is one of those fishing ones after my CC details or something. No idea how it got there, my laptop is only used for streaming from iPlayer and the like. Discovered it when I tried to put Holby on there for the gf :(

Thanks for any help you can offer! Hope this is the right section.

Try this:

Rather than offering an .exe to install/run malwarebytes, it gives you many different ways of doing it. Most of the time these nasties are only coded to block launching of .exe files.

It worked for me a few weeks ago, hopefully it does the job for you.

When you extract the files, there should be a web page that lets you test each way individually. Failing that, just try all the application links in turn.

doesnt hirens boot cd have a load of antivirus programs?

should be able to get around the restriction using that :)

Don't you have a spare machine?

MBAM will install and run in safemode. Update definitions before scanning.

You could try Kaspersky's rescue disc.

You need to enter into safe mode, eliminate suspicious files or exe on system32 you recently installed and fix registry issues.
Then you can ran a decent antivirus like iSafe free virus removal tool to take a deep scan
