Hi

Anybody come across this software before, think there maybe 2 versions on the internet.

A friend has installed it, we cant remove it doing all the usual things and a quick google search says it is a parasite.

"VirusFighter is a new rogue anti-spyware parasite that tries to trick users into downloading it and then makes attempts to scam them into purchasing its "full" version. Although it gives users a 30-day trial period, tough it attempts to shut down your system immediately after boot up, after the trial expires.

DO NOT trust VirusFighter, and remove it ASAP if you've been infect"

Any ideas on how to remove it please, also what is the best free real time spyware software out there.

Will be using Avira fror antivirus.

SUPERantispyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware should clear it, run from safemode and update before you scan.

Download malwayrebytes.

Run rkill (takes a second). It will stop the programme dead, and tell you where it has hidden itself. if you are lucky, you will be able to go to the folder and literally right click, delete. Then delete from recycle bin.

It is not a very complucated piece of malware.

If you can delete ot or not, run malwarabytes and it will quarantine it.

No need to run in safe mode or anything.

rkill sounds quite complicated to use after reading that thread. Sometimes taking 50 attemps to find and kill programmes.

Sounds like a clone of the other fake antivirus programs going around. Malwarebytes should sort it, just make sure you turn off system restore and run Ccleaner to remove all temp files to help speed up scanning.

It is actually a very small programme. Only 842 bytes.

It will work trust me on this.
