Juts literally been told my finacee has been granted a Finacee visa for England :D Although they have a small **** up by making it valid from 24 September instead of 24 October like requested:rolleyes: Still what can you expect we only paid 700 GBP

Anyway I would like to say thanks to a few OCUK ers who helped me with advice in particular a guy who actually is/was a ECO officer. Unfortunately had to deal and get so many things together the names on here escape me.

If anyone else needs any advice on this then just ask away. A general piece of advice never ever assume getting a copy of bank statements is going to be easy because trust me it isn't. Nearly had a break down getting those:p

To say i'm happy is a understatement just a samll matter of a wedding to plan in 5 months now

Congrats! I just got mine as well, though I'm a fair bit further down the process than you.

I just got my 3rd visa, which is for Indefinite Leave to Remain. Next summer is my last one which is dual citizenship. (Canadian/British)

I maybe asking you cor advice in about 5 months time!!

As for the visa start date, it starts from when it is granted, not when you ask, so that is no error on their part. Thats by deisgn.
Good luck with the wedding.

it is when you tell them to make it valid from x date, like they say to on the application form! Either way we're just happy to get the visa.

100% sure its on the embassy website woukd link to it but im on my phone. Can be pre dated upto 6 weeks i think.... Not100% on that bit though. Either way im just happy to get the visa as said before

I'll defin hold you to that one in 4 or 5 months time! Thanks

Great news, my American wife recently got her indefinite leave to remain visa - was a long and expensive process but it's all turned out nicely :)
If you ever need any info feel free to ask.

Ok any advice from you guys above would be great, more advice the better, I'm under the impression the criteria is basically the same as the finacee visa ,so I shouldn just repeat what I did last time right?

My circumstances wouldn't have changed accept been married :o

Any help would a massive help

Thanks again

She's in the uk on a fiancée visa. Applying a for a 2year extension soonish so if those guys who have been through it ,could give me some advice would be good

may i ask how you met her?

Fine to ask I met her Darwin on a working holiday visa in Australia

The person will need to get an entry clearance from abroad before they come to the UK. They will need to submit all the evidence when applying for it and if the home office is satisfied that the person is geniune then the entry clearance will be issued.

When the person arrives at the UK they will have their entry clearance in their passport which will be presented to passport control. All they will do at passport control is ensure that you are entering the UK in line with the entry clearance in the passport and thats it.

Sounds like you have experience on this , in 1 way or another any tips?

hi divaboy, i'll be going through the process of a fiancee visa soon. do you mind if we can have a chat about it? not sure why cant send PM's on this forum! (unless i'm missing a button somewhere)

No problem , just skype me >>> adambackpacking or ring meif your in the UK , although it looks like your in Japan.

Anytime after 7pm UK time is ok for me. Or I could email you all the guidelines I used for my application :)

EDIT PM is disabled on here

EDIT 2 just another thought not brown nosing anyone here but I would just like to say how helpful people are on here on all levels all the way from my thread about where to eat in South shields the other day , thorough to more serious matters of visa's all of you lot have been very helpful.

So whoever has helped me have a virtual beer from me:)

At risk of sounding sarcastic, I finacee is on a finacee visa ,soon to get married , so I'm wanting advice on the 2year extension visa.

Anyone doesn't know this won't be able to help at guess. Just after the above people to give some REAL LIFE examples on what they included in their application

Ok, you need to apply for a spouse visa or SET(M) along with your marriage certificate to prove that both of you are legally married to each other.

You need bank statements, utilities bills to prove that you're living at your current address, that she's going to work and your sponge off the gov.

I had go through this process :(

Thanks for the above but I've read the official websites. so basically we got a fiancee visa successfully , so the 2extension visa has the same criteria so just send the same stuff as we did the for the fiancee visa along with marriage visa.

also is it a good idea to show that my fiancee is wanting to work one her visa is granted?

On another note I'm all for a joke , but the thai bride, send them back jokes are wearing a bit thin now:o

Carry on if you must, but I'd prefer just constructive advice or genuine questions :)

If after two years you are still together she can apply for 'indefinite leave to remain' (ILR) which will guarantee her permanent residence in the UK (even if you split) so long as she doesn't move abroad for longer than two years.

as far as im aware this is incorrect , after ILR person in question can come and go as they please. If im proven then wrong then so be it, but to my knowledge that is the case. just worth pointing out with it been such a serious subject:)

Oopss cheers for yet more of a education. im assuming you are a ECO or something similar;)

So can you pop back to the uk for say 2weeks to restart the clock as it were?

long term thinking was get my fiancee to be a resident then (2year plan)then maybe head out to Taiwan for a while.

would we be able to do that say for 4 years as long as we visited the UK within that 2 year time frame?
