Guys,

This has probably been asked a few times so apologies.

Building a new rig... 750i, E7200, 4GB Red Tracer, 2x 1TB Samsung F1 HDD's (RAID 0), 2x 8800GTS 512 (SLI), Asus DX and was wondering if I should go for the 64-bit OS over 32-bit?

Been looking on manufacturers websites, seems like drivers are available now.

Thanks in advance.

Go 64 bit i did and aparently is better overall for games. Also you can use the full 4GB ram instead of 3GB. Bit of advice go with 2GB of ram whilst installing my was a lot quicker with out the extra 2GB.

Havnt tried SLI with it but Crossfire was fine.

Hope all goes well.

64bit would be my choice too. No reason not to really.

Only downside for me is that my Canon printer doesn't have drivers due to it being ever so slightly old.

Really it's just canon dragging their feet deliberately so i have to go out and buy a brand new version.

Can be disabled can it not, there's a command for it im sure, you could try googling it.

multiple different ways of trying to disable it, none of them seem to work, the only way to actually disable it is to press F8 on boot and select it...which is incredibly annoying

ye 64bit all the way. if you intend to use 4gb Ram you have no choice otherwise your just wasting 1gb of ram

It'll probably be supported for longer, in terms of MS and developers of other software. I have no evidence to support this, just a theory of mine.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm also surprised nobody suggested sticking with XP and 2GB RAM? :)

Just found out that my favorite encoding program WME Assistant (use it for 1080p WMV HD encoding) does not support Vista 64-bit... bummer.

Also hope for 4+ GHz out of that E7200 on aqua. ;) Just had an e-mail from the UK Lian-Li distributor... the new PC-A77 cases arrive with them on June 5th, so should be with distributors just after. This case looks the mutts nuts!

Definately get 64 bit, due to the whole RAM thing.

But your setup seems strange... It's stupid/pointless/mad to have two 1TB drives in RAID0. You're very unlikely to ever fill anywhere near that much space, and if you did it'd be a big mistake relying on those drives with so much stuff.

It'd make a lot more sense to have two smaller drives in RAID0 and one large backup/storage drive.

Sorry, I disagree. I'll use that space and more ;)

You seem to forget that even a single drive may go faulty; I'm prepared to take the risk of having 2x large drives in RAID0 and backing up any thing that important.

In addition, at £79 a drive, it's a no-brainer.
