Vista 32 on Core 2 Duo?

Right, im a bit confused but i hope this is possible,

I have intel core 2 duo 2.20ghz, now i thought cause its 64bit i can only install vista 64, can i actually install vista 32bit and then use all my dj'ing hardware that is currently not working with this 64bit edition?

a real n00b question, but i need to know lol

You can run 32-bit just fine.

People have been running Windows XP (32-bit) on 64-bit capable CPUs for 5 years now (since April, 2003) with no issues.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh Cheeers , do i still have to back-up im sure i had a friend who said when he installed vista he didn't need to back up it saved his files, is this true/possible?

ALWAYS back up your stuff. You don't want to lose all of your important files because the machine crashed while installing, or something. Don't trust it farther than you can throw it.

Before making a major move to Vista backup whatever you need to, don't rely on it working fine just after you move. You can use 32 bit Vista if you wish, I'd recommend 64 bit though once your dj'ing software is compatible.
