Vista 32 > Windows 7 64bit?

OK So I know you cannot update Vista 32 to Vista 64.

But was wondering if you could with Windows 7?

Ie

Vista 32bit > Windows 7 64bit

Anyone tried?

Well the Usenet community are complaining they cannot do an upgrade. Only a fresh install.

Vista 32 and 64 keys are interchangable. But, I you can't upgrade the install IIRC from 32 bit to 64bit.

I know this doesn't answer your question specifically, but I'd think twice about "upgrading" any operating system never mind going from 32bit to 64bit. It's just asking for trouble imo. A clean install is always the best route to go down.

Also more hassle, firefox 3 doesnt import passwords but 2 did :confused:

I've successfully updgraded my Vista 64 (Gaming partition) to Windows 7 without any problems.

It's just that I have a Vista 32 partition for my day to day stuff which I really think would benifit to an upgrade to 64bit.

If you have files that you don't want to lose and therefore want to upgrade rather than fresh install, you shouldn't be using beta software.
