Which would be best to use 32bit vista or 64bit vista? i will have 6GB of ram in my new system but i see 32bit only supports up to 4GB so is it best to go 64bit ? or will i have problems with Drivers and programs Etc?

Thanks.

You will get the odd program or old game that won't work. Catalogue your software, pick out the "must haves" and hit the Google pages to see if there are any known issues with 64bit.

If there are no problems, go for it.

^4bit feels faster, more stable, more secure, uses all your ram ect ect.

You will have no problem with games, drivers or software.
Unless you use any 16bit software. You would know if you used anything like that though.

I've seen lots of retail ultimate go for ~£100 2nd hand at auction.. There's two on there at the moment.

You wont get much more than that as we can't link to competitors for obvious reasons.
Any reason you need ultimate over Home Premium. Home Premium is perfect for the vast majority of people.

yea thats what i thought! do a lot of you guys use 64bit? will i be able to run games and common programs alright?
64bit has always been fine for me, since i installed it in feb 07
to many people read the crap on some sites about it and then years later still think it not to be used.
if your buying, i`d go for win7 64bit, use it free till next year and save your money for when its released.
i installed it and didnt need to look for any drivers(first time that has ever happened when using a new OS for me) and thats on a 2 year old laptop

Also recommend HP over Ultimate. But see here for what extras come with Ultimate.

Another alternative is, the (currently) free Windows 7 RC ;)

I wouldn't buy Vista......just download win7. Ive heard its as better than Vista already.

Only if you don't play punkbuster games on it.
If you are using games which use punkbuster then w7 is not for you.

You can still buy a 2nd hand copy retail version of vista now and when w7 comes out. But the upgrade disc. I should cost no more and probably less than just buying w7 retail when it comes out and you get the benefit of vista for the next 6 or so months.

Why use a 32bit OS on a 64bit CPU? Why limit yourself to 3.xGB when you can fully access your ram on a 64bit OS?

Vista 32 is a waste of time right now as it stands and 64bit driver models are on a par in terms of availability against 32bit versions.
