Windows installer has somehow messed up.

Please may you email me the 2 files located in your system32 folder = C_867.NLS & C_868.NLS to my trust address.

Can't find them anywhere on the net - basically because these files are missing (due to some update) I keep getting a windows installer error:

'no valid sequence could be found for the set of patches'

whenever adobe reader tries to update

Much appreciated :)

please help :(
I don't have Vista32 installed, but I do have a setup disc - inside the .wim cabinet file, the sequence goes "....C_861.NLS, C_862.NLS, C_863.NLS, C_864.NLS, C_865_NLS, C_866.NLS, C_869.NLS, C_870.NLS, C_874.NLS, C_875.NLS, C_932.NLS, C_936.NLS, C_949.NLS, C_950_NLS....."

In other words, it looks like C_867.NLS and C_868.NLS were never there in the first place (maybe the codepages don't exist) - are you absolutely sure these are the files you need?

For what it's worth, the 867 and 868 files don't exist in the Win7 x64 system32 folder either... the rest of the sequence is there, and according to fc /b they're bit-for-bit identical to the .NLS files in the Vista32 installation disc. No trouble updating Adobe Reader here...

"scratches head"

Have you checked that all your existing .NLS files have corresponding entries in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nls\CodePage ?

yes all the other reg keys were there and their corresponding files

stumped myself tbh, but if the ms article says they should be there then it's worth a try I suppose

Thanks for looking guys - perhaps I'm barking up the wrong tree with these files (the ms article has confused me though)

I'll try further troubleshooting regarding the error :)
